Sweetness Featuring Shiva Sharma
My stomach knows sweets.
All the candy.
All the pie.
All the shapes, sizes and flavours
In a diwali box of mitai.
It has had it share of treats from east to west
Sugar-laden journeys that begin in the mouth
Little yummy travelogues, all the way from the north to the south.
Payasam. Laddoo. Meringue. Rasgulla. Pastries. Halwa.
Jalebi. Barfi. Sticky-sweet mangoes.
Soaked and sticky with melted sugar gulab jamuns and also baklava.
My stomachβs no stranger to anything and everything sweet.
And yet, it beams and glows like a tiny sun.
It flutters, nervous and excited,
Caressed by a million honey- soaked butterfly wings.
My stomach is no stranger to sweetness.
And yet it smiles - toothy, gleeful, heady smiles
Like a child tasting sugar for the first time.
For it has known none like the
The fullness and sweetness of holding you.
