We have so much to figure out.
From skewed gender constructs to how much to smile today.
To portion outrage, so that there's enough to cover
Everything from centuries of being a woman in a man's world
To the decibel of my voice that demarcates rational human from emotional wreck.
To navigate what outfit to wear
To get that job. To find social acceptance. To not get killed.
Yes, it escalates pretty quickly for me.
So many things to think, strategise, analyse including what's for dinner.
And it's all the job of this pretty little head.
How to extricate myself from this daughter, wife, mother narrative
And create one, where I'm seen, heard and acknowledged as myself.
